The Glasgow Operations Centre went live in 2014 to support the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and provide comprehensive security surveillance for the city. Today the system, which makes use of cameras from 360 Vision, is paying back its return on investment, assisting the council and police to effectively manage everyday situations across the city.
Using over 500 ruggedised HD Predator all-in-one PTZ cameras installed in and around the city centre, the scheme includes over 65 cameras deployed for traffic monitoring, and fitted to community safety vehicles.
Some cameras were also supplied with built-in LED white light options, to enable control room operators to be proactive when dealing with incidents. Apart from providing illumination for video capture, the use of white light acts as a visible assurance or as a deterrent to subjects under surveillance.
Other features include a distortion-free flat glass viewing window and associated wiper, and easy integration with a wide range of third party control and recording technologies.
