Powerbox has announced the release of its new Defense Line of ruggedised power solutions for highly demanding environments. The launch includes seven new power supplies, comprising three DC/DC and four AC/DC units with a power range from 50W up to 1,200W. In metal chassis format with a baseplate for conduction cooling, the DAx and DBx series can be used with a operating temperature range of -40 up to +100 degrees C.
For demanding applications they can be configured with a conformal coating and mechanical and electrical ruggedising to withstand harsh transients and demanding EMC performance requirements. Designed for high availability, short time-to-market and to meet commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) business models, the modular build of the DAx and DBx series allows up to six outputs which can be connected in serial, parallel or used as a standalone output.
The power supplies include an efficient input filter, reverse voltage protection, input transient protection and an internal fuse to protect against damage in the event of failure. Each output is protected against accidental and permanent short-circuit . An internal over-temperature circuit (OTP) protects the units in the case of over-heating, with automatic recovery.
