As pricing of video analytics trends downwards, even becoming a free feature set in a few VMS offerings, there is a very real danger that customers will start to use them without first considering the exceedingly high processing requirements that these advanced software features will require. Different manufacturers’ analytics have different requirements; some prefer high clock speed rather than more processing cores, some use GPU offload engines like CUDA from nVidia. Getting it wrong can cause the system to crash, slow down or become unstable.

Typically a server being used for all of these functions will require less storage due to the limited number of video analytics channels one can run on a single server, teamed with the storage efficiencies that accurate video analytics can make. An optional GPU upgrade adds additional processing where GPU offload improves performance as well as adding 4 x 4K monitor outputs for use as a workstation.
Server based analytics can offer advantages over camera-based solutions. At a small premium over standard servers, the HA Series ‘Analytics Optimised’ products carry all the mission-critical resilience you expect from Secure Logiq including dual redundant PSUs, OS and application on two SSD in RAID1, hardware RAID and the Logiqal Healthcheck software. A free software tool , Logiqal Healthcheck Lite is Secure Logiq’s free health monitoring and alerting facility. Designed for mission critical IP CCTV installations by Secure Logiq’s team of video and server experts, Logiqal Healthcheck Lite features adjustable parameters to raise alerts via email or SMS in the event that Secure Logiq hardware is experiencing technical, temperature or throughput issues, or if a component is struggling or requires replacement.
Logiqal Healthcheck’s self-intuitive and easy to use GUI is preinstalled on all Secure Logiq Enterprise hardware and features a traffic light system for at-a-glance peace of mind that all hardware is running at 100 per cent functionality. Historical data mapping and collection will allow customers to instantly establish at exactly what time and date problems arose and quickly identify recurring fluctuations in temperature, throughput, etc., caused by environmental changes on site.
