Paxton Entry App Review: Flexible, Convenient, and Ready for Modern Access Control

by Geny Caloisi
At Benchmark, we had a chance to put the new Paxton Entry app through its paces, and it genuinely delivers on its promise of making access control more straightforward. From app set-up to everyday use, we found it to be a convenient tool that’s easy to navigate, whether you’re managing one site or multiple locations.

When we tested the Paxton Entry app as end-users, the experience was smooth. It allows users to answer video calls from an external entry panel and open the door from anywhere in the world. Granting access through a smartphone or tablet feels seamless, and the app’s clean design makes it easy to answer calls and control entry at the touch of a button. This can provide a lot more flexibility for those who want to keep an eye on who can access their buildings but, at the same time, don’t want to be tied up to a desk or intercom to enable it.

One thing that stood out is the app’s ability to keep you connected—even when the app is closed. You still receive call notifications to a smart device when it’s closed, to make sure users are always made aware of incoming call. Calls from the door entry panels come through with clear video and audio, so you can easily verify who’s at the door before allowing access. This feature worked consistently during our tests, making it reliable for day-to-day use.

The setting up process from the installer’s side through the new online myPaxton portal was just as intuitive. The platform’s interface makes adding new sites and users straightforward.

The Paxton Entry app is not just available with new Paxton door entry installations. With existing Entry systems, installers need to only install a firmware update to enable the use of the mobile app. So, there’s no need for complex installations or additional hardware.

End-users can also manage their system through the myPaxton platform if they wish, bypassing the need for management through installers. The portal itself is simple to navigate, and adding users or handling payments takes just a few clicks.

Paxton’s app works seamlessly with its range of video door entry panels, whether you opt for the standard, vandal-resistant, or touch-screen models. Each is designed to suit different site needs and has flexible installation options. Paxton’s monitors offer similar adaptability, with video or audio choices and wall or desk mounting options. In fact, end-users can choose to use the Paxton Entry app without an Entry monitor or use both to maximise convenience.

The mobile app also works with Paxton’s standalone Entry door system, Net2 the technology manufacturer’s longstanding IP networked security system, and Paxton10 which combines access control and video management on a simple-to-use platform.

In short, the Paxton Entry app brings modern convenience to access control and video door entry, giving users more flexibility while opening up new revenue streams for installers. It’s easy to use, integrates well with existing systems, and offers the convenience that today’s access management solutions need—it is a smart, simple video door entry solution for installers and end-users alike.
