Tylers Green Middle School enhances site security with tailored access solution from Amthal

by Geny Caloisi

Tylers Green Middle School has partnered with Amthal to deliver a fully integrated gate automation and access control system, forming part of a wider security upgrade designed to protect pupils, staff and visitors.

With over 255 children aged 7 to 11 on roll, the school sits at the heart of its community and places strong emphasis on providing a safe, secure learning environment. As part of its ongoing commitment to safeguarding, the school commissioned Amthal to deliver a bespoke solution that balances robust site security with day-to-day operational ease.

Amthal’s approach began with a detailed consultation process, taking into account the unique layout and scheduling needs of the school. The resulting system provides automated, secure entry for authorised users while simplifying access management and reducing the administrative burden on staff.

Elin Chalk, School Business Manager at Tylers Green Middle School, commented:
“Amthal were helpful and professional from the start. We really appreciated their flexibility and support throughout the project. Balancing security and accessibility is always a challenge, but the timed gate solution gives us full control – it opens and closes automatically according to our schedule.

“Installation was handled very smoothly. There was minimal disruption and the site was left clean and tidy, with barely any sign of the building works. As with any new system, there were a few initial teething problems, but these were quickly resolved with Amthal’s help. We’re very happy with the outcome – it’s given us a strong extra layer of security, which is much appreciated.”

The installation followed a comprehensive risk assessment and was carefully phased to minimise disruption to teaching and learning. Amthal coordinated closely with the school team, scheduling works outside of core hours wherever possible. The project builds on an existing relationship, with Amthal already responsible for maintaining the school’s intruder alarm system.

In addition to enhancing access control, the new solution supports improved incident response, offering secure entry points, remote monitoring and real-time access logging – essential tools for maintaining situational awareness across the site.

David Williamson, Business Development Manager at Amthal Fire & Security, said:
“We worked in close partnership with Tylers Green Middle School to ensure the final system met both their security requirements and day-to-day needs. From initial planning through to post-installation support, our focus was on delivering a solution that integrates smoothly with school life.

“The result is a reliable, future-proof access control system that reinforces safety without compromising the welcoming atmosphere the school is known for.”
