Skills for Security has launched its seventh dedicated training centre in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, welcoming its first cohort of fire and security apprentices.
The newly renovated facility offers modern, purpose-built classrooms and workshops that replicate real-world conditions, providing learners with practical, hands-on experience to accelerate their career development.
David Scott, Managing Director of Skills for Security, highlighted the significance of the expansion: “With seven centres nationwide, we can deliver high-quality training at scale, reaching more apprentices and employers across the UK. Establishing this centre creates local opportunities for people entering the industry and helps businesses address the skills shortage by providing the skilled workforce the sector urgently needs.”

The Doncaster centre complements the organisation’s existing network, which includes sites in Warrington, Birmingham, Watford, Dagenham, Bristol and Glasgow. By strengthening regional access, the centre reduces travel demands for apprentices and employers while increasing the sector’s overall training capacity.
Programmes at the new site already support apprentices beginning their careers and employers seeking to upskill staff. Scott added: “The shortage of qualified engineers remains a pressing challenge. Expanding our training footprint ensures a sustainable pipeline of talent, supporting both the industry’s immediate needs and its long-term growth.”
