Synectics will use this year’s ADIPEC to unveil the latest AI-enabled surveillance developments for oil, gas and transitional energy projects, while also marking 40 years of its COEX camera range.
At stand 15548 in Hall 15 (The Chevron Hall), the company will demonstrate how its COEX hazardous and safe-area camera stations, paired with the Synergy software platform, are helping operators cut costs, improve safety and extend the working life of their assets – both on established sites and emerging energy projects.
Smarter performance at the edge
A major development for Synectics has been advancing edge analytics in the COEX range. Earlier models already supported functions such as intrusion detection and object tracking. The latest generation now adds PPE monitoring – something usually handled in the control room.
Darren Alder, Head of Oil & Gas at Synectics, says: “COEX cameras deliver powerful edge-based analytics through advanced in-camera processing. By handling data directly at the source, they significantly reduce server, network and infrastructure demands while ensuring efficient, precise and scalable AI-driven performance. Whether deployed with Synergy or integrated with other video management systems, customers gain the real-time intelligence they need to make faster, better-informed decisions.”
Lower-cost upgrades and added capability
Synectics has also introduced integrated IR illumination across its COEX models. According to Darren, “It’s a straightforward way to improve performance where IR benefits security and process monitoring, while reducing maintenance overheads.”
Cost control remains a priority for brownfield sites, operators and vessel management companies. To support upgrade planning, Synectics has produced a practical guide focused on extending infrastructure rather than replacing it. The guide explores how to enhance monitoring capabilities, extend asset life and ensure systems are ready for future demands. Copies will be available at the show and can also be downloaded online.
Working across hydrocarbons and renewables
Synectics continues to supply surveillance solutions for offshore platforms, FPSOs, gas processing and refining. Alongside this, the company is now supporting a growing number of projects tied to the energy transition – including carbon capture facilities, offshore wind and other renewable developments.
Ross Chapman, International Business Development Manager, says: “Operators are looking for solutions that make their facilities secure, safer and more efficient today while also aligning with the future shape of the energy sector. Whether it’s traditional hydrocarbons or renewables, COEX cameras and Synergy software meet these requirements.”
