Amthal Group Companies has been appointed by MERKUR Casino to manage fire safety across its nationwide estate of over 220 gaming venues. The partnership focuses on maintaining compliance with UK fire safety legislation and ensuring safe environments for customers and staff.
Working closely with MERKUR’s Facilities Management team and Fire Safety Officer, Amthal delivers planned maintenance for fire alarm systems and emergency lighting, alongside rapid remedial support when issues are identified.
Ben Hunter, Head of Construction and Facilities at MERKUR Casino, said: “Our priority is creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can enjoy our gaming facilities with complete confidence. In a highly regulated sector, fire safety is non-negotiable. Amthal brings the expertise and responsiveness we need to stay compliant with minimal disruption.”
Amthal coordinates its maintenance visits around each site’s operational schedule, ensuring business continuity while maintaining consistent standards of safety. The company has also supported MERKUR in the design and upkeep of integrated security systems, including access control and intrusion detection, which operate seamlessly within the venues.
Mike Pipe, Senior Account Manager at Amthal, explained: “MERKUR’s sites are busy environments, which can make compliance challenging. Our role is to ease that pressure by understanding each location’s needs and ensuring systems are always up to date. This approach helps them stay ahead of risk and maintain a secure environment.”
Amthal’s tailored maintenance programmes are designed to align with current legislation and the operational demands of the leisure sector. Its national coverage allows for flexible service delivery as MERKUR continues to expand.
The collaboration highlights the growing importance of proactive fire safety management within regulated leisure environments. As compliance standards tighten, partnerships that combine technical capability with responsive service are becoming essential for operators managing large, dispersed estates.
