ASSA ABLOY and Secured by Design Roadshow Highlights Early-Stage Security Integration

by Geny Caloisi

In September, ASSA ABLOY, in collaboration with Secured by Design (SBD),  completed a nationwide roadshow aimed at raising awareness about integrating security into building design. The event, which took place at various ASSA ABLOY locations including Cheltenham, Willenhall, Daventry, and Carlisle, brought together a diverse group of security professionals, such as Design Out Crime Officers (DOCOs), Crime Prevention Officers (CPOs), and counterterrorism specialists.

The roadshow’s primary focus was to demonstrate the importance of embedding security measures early in the construction process. By incorporating standards like PAS24, TS007, and TS008 into the planning and design phases, professionals can significantly enhance crime prevention strategies for new builds and major refurbishments. ASSA ABLOY used the platform to showcase its SBD-accredited products, such as Yale’s Smart Security Ecosystem and Mul-T-Lock’s MTL™300 Break Secure® 3XP.

Attendees also participated in hands-on sessions, including security testing demonstrations and smart living showcases, allowing them to gain practical insight into how these products work in real-world applications. The events received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, who praised the informative presentations and the opportunities to see security innovations in action.

Hazel Goss MBE from Secured by Design highlighted the long-term benefits of the roadshow, noting that the enhanced knowledge gained by DOCOs will contribute to more secure building environments. The roadshow effectively reinforced the role of early-stage security integration, not just as a compliance issue, but as a critical part of crime prevention in modern building design.

For ASSA ABLOY, this roadshow represents a continued commitment to advancing security technology and educating industry professionals on best practices, ensuring that future developments are both smart and secure.
