Veridos, the identity solutions provider jointly owned by Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) and the Bundesdruckerei Group, has announced a change in leadership. Marc-Julian Siewert, who has served as CEO for over three years, will step down at the end of June. He will be succeeded by Bernd Kümmerle, who officially takes on the role from 1 July 2025.
Siewert departs to assume a new position within the G+D Group’s Digital Security division. He joins the management board of secunet on 1 July and will subsequently take over as CEO. During his tenure at Veridos, Siewert oversaw a significant transformation. Under his leadership, the company’s revenue grew by over 50%, while its global footprint expanded to include successful projects with government entities in more than 100 countries.
Bernd Kümmerle brings a strong track record to the role. A veteran of G+D since 1995, he most recently served as managing director of the Currency Technology segment, responsible for the banknote business. His background in international government relations and operational leadership is seen as a strategic fit for Veridos’ continued global expansion.
“We are proud to have found a successor for Marc-Julian Siewert from within the G+D Group,” said Ralf Wintergerst, Group CEO of Giesecke+Devrient. “Bernd Kümmerle will continue the impressive growth story of Veridos. This puts the company in an excellent position to take the next development steps in the growing market for identity solutions.”
Stefan Hofschen, CEO of the Bundesdruckerei Group, echoed this sentiment: “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Marc-Julian Siewert, whose strong commitment has led Veridos to considerable success in recent years. We are pleased that Bernd Kümmerle, a successor with decades of experience, has been chosen to successfully lead the company into the future.”
Commenting on his appointment, Kümmerle said: “I feel very honoured to be entrusted with the management of Veridos by G+D and Bundesdruckerei. Together with the management team and the Veridos colleagues, I will dedicate myself to providing billions of people with a secure identity and to opening the next chapter of the company’s growth.”
Veridos plays a central role in global identity security, delivering integrated solutions such as biometric passports, national ID cards, and digital identity systems.
