Yorkshire-based security firm Gough & Kelly has reinforced its longstanding partnership with the University of Sheffield by securing a six-figure contract to enhance campus security.
The five-year agreement involves installing and maintaining over 1,300 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras integrated with Avada Connect AI technology across 150 university buildings. Designed to create a safer and more secure environment, the system will benefit the 100,000 students, staff, and visitors who use the campus daily.
The AI-driven surveillance network will enhance security monitoring, helping to deter crime, track suspicious activity, and provide crucial visual evidence in incidents involving theft, vandalism, loitering, or unauthorised access. Avada Connect’s advanced features, including real-time threat detection, automated alerts, and AI-powered object searching, will allow security teams to efficiently locate specific individuals, clothing, bags, or vehicle licence plates.
Gough & Kelly has been a trusted security partner of the university for more than 25 years, delivering CCTV, access control, and manned guarding services. Recently, the company also provided stewarding support at the Octagon Performance venue following the temporary closure of Sheffield’s O2 Academy.
Andy Stokes, Sales Director at Gough & Kelly, commented, “We are excited to extend our collaboration with the University of Sheffield by installing this advanced digital CCTV system.
“By integrating Avada Connect, we are bringing the university in line with the latest cloud-based security monitoring already in use across Doncaster and Sheffield. The system’s cutting-edge timeline searching and identification features enhance security while delivering cost efficiencies.”
Beyond its work with the university, Gough & Kelly has played a key role in citywide safety initiatives. Last year, the company partnered with Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Police on the Safer Streets project, installing 15 digital CCTV cameras in high-traffic areas such as London Road and Ecclesall Road.
Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Leeds, Gough & Kelly employs over 270 staff and delivers security solutions for local authorities, sports venues, entertainment events, educational institutions, and businesses across the UK.
