Gunnebo Entrance Control (GEC), a leader in entrance control solutions, has partnered with the World Land Trust (WLT) to support the conservation of biodiversity-rich lands at risk from deforestation, agriculture, and urbanisation. This collaboration aligns with GEC’s commitment to sustainability, extending its focus beyond business operations to contribute to long-term ecological preservation.
Through WLT’s Buy an Acre programme, GEC is helping secure endangered habitats, including Kenya’s Dakatcha Woodland, South Africa’s Renosterveld, and Argentina’s Somuncurá Plateau. These regions are home to rare species like the Clarke’s Weaver bird, the El Rincon Stream Frog, and unique flora, but face threats from human activity and invasive species. GEC has pledged to protect at least 50 acres annually, while also raising awareness about conservation through educational initiatives and storytelling.
Tina Hughan, GEC’s Global Marketing and Sustainability Director, emphasised the importance of the partnership, stating that preserving these habitats is critical not only for biodiversity but also in combating climate change. By joining forces with WLT, GEC reinforces its role in driving impactful environmental action and championing corporate responsibility in addressing global ecological challenges.
