Hanwha Vision has introduced a new AI remote-head camera designed to provide flexible monitoring in locations where space is limited or a less visible presence is required. The model PNM-C20000QB supports up to four channels from a single main unit and is compatible with Hanwha Vision’s 2MP and 5MP lens modules. This approach allows for discreet installation across a range of applications, including ATMs, retail service areas, building entrances, and other settings where conventional camera systems may not be suitable.

The camera separates its processing unit from the lenses, allowing the lens modules to be positioned independently, offering greater flexibility during installation. Each of the four channels supports video and audio inputs, and an integrated HDMI output provides local monitoring without the need for additional decoding hardware. Built-in gyroscopic sensors detect physical shocks, which can indicate tampering or accidental impact.

Real-time Detection with Onboard AI

All four channels benefit from onboard AI-based analytics. The system can detect and classify objects such as people, vehicles, faces and number plates. The AI model reduces false alarms by filtering out movement caused by environmental factors, only triggering alerts when specified types of objects are identified. This is particularly relevant for sites with frequent footfall or motion, where traditional motion-based alerts may generate excessive notifications.

Features such as line crossing, loitering, intrusion detection and directional movement are supported, enabling operators to configure event-based alerts in line with site-specific policies.

The unit includes a function called BestShot, which automatically identifies and stores the most relevant images of detected objects. These cropped images are designed to speed up forensic review and evidence gathering. Additional search capabilities include the ability to filter recordings based on colour attributes, such as clothing or vehicle colour, which can support investigative processes when detailed descriptions are available.

Operational Insight for Broader Use Cases

Beyond conventional security functions, the camera also supports people counting and vehicle counting, which can provide useful operational data in environments such as retail, transportation, and public buildings. These functions may assist with staffing decisions, layout planning, or usage trend analysis.

The PNM-C20000QB includes a range of cybersecurity measures, including access control, user authentication and encrypted communication. It also contains a secure element chip that meets FIPS 140-3 Level 3 and Common Criteria EAL6+ standards, which are typically required for systems deployed in environments with elevated security needs.

Installation Considerations

A detachable mounting plate simplifies the installation and adjustment process, making it easier to reposition or replace the unit after initial setup. The modular design may benefit installers working in settings where physical access is limited or where the installation must be completed within a short time window.

This release reflects increasing interest in compact and modular surveillance systems that can be integrated into environments where conventional form factors may be unsuitable. As the security industry continues to adopt AI-driven analytics, tools like the PNM-C20000QB offer more targeted monitoring and can reduce the amount of time spent reviewing footage or managing alerts.
