Hanwha Vision unveils AI mobile cameras with privacy masking for public transport

by Geny Caloisi

Hanwha Vision has introduced its latest AI-powered mobile cameras, designed specifically for public transport environments where space is tight and privacy concerns are high. The new models – TNV-C8014RM and TNV-C8034RM – combine compact design with robust features including dynamic privacy masking, advanced analytics, and business intelligence tools.

At just 55mm in height, the cameras are ideal for mounting on buses, trains, and other low-ceiling environments, delivering clarity on the move without compromising discretion or data protection.

Privacy-first approach with smart analytics

One of the headline features is Dynamic Privacy Masking, which automatically obscures faces, clothing and other identifiable details in live operator feeds. If an incident requires investigation, authorised personnel can unlock the original footage. This makes the solution ideal for high-traffic environments, where cameras continuously monitor people in motion.

Beyond privacy, Hanwha’s AI engine powers real-time object detection – identifying people, vehicles, or specific behaviours like loitering or line-crossing. Motion detection is smart enough to filter out irrelevant triggers such as shadows or light changes, cutting down on false alarms and helping operators respond to genuine events faster.

Adding value beyond security

The new mobile range also delivers actionable insights beyond traditional surveillance. Heatmaps, people-counting and queue analytics help transport operators make informed decisions about staffing, signage, and layout. Meanwhile, digital image stabilisation and built-in environmental sensors ensure the cameras capture clear, usable footage even in rough weather or on moving vehicles.

Cybersecurity is baked in, with protections such as secure boot, encrypted communication and tamper alerts ensuring data integrity and preventing unauthorised access.

“The AI mobile cameras were designed for environments that demand discretion, intelligence, and reliability,” said John Lutz Boorman, Head of Product and Marketing at Hanwha Vision Europe. “They not only support security teams with actionable alerts but also provide insights that can improve operations and passenger experience.”
