HID Global has announced the expansion of its Signo Reader product line to offer a range of new models. These models are designed to meet the diverse needs of customers, addressing preferences for aesthetics, durability in harsh conditions, and economical requirements for streamlined operations.
One of the new models includes Signo Readers available in white, which offer a clean and minimalist design. This aesthetic option caters to architects, designers, and others looking to seamlessly integrate access control readers into environments that demand a bright and neutral visual appearance. Additionally, the new line includes Signo Mechanical Keypad Readers, which are specifically tailored for use in harsh environments. These readers are ideal for situations where cold or wet conditions require users to wear gloves, or in cases where visibility is low. Mechanical Keypad Readers also appeal to those who prefer or are required to use traditional mechanical devices. For organisations seeking a simpler, cost-effective solution, HID has introduced the Signo Express model. This reader focuses on essential access control capabilities, offering an affordable option for secure physical access without unnecessary complexity.
Cristian Cotiga, Vice President of Product Management for Physical Access Control Systems at HID, emphasised the flexibility of the Signo Readers. “Signo Readers are designed with versatility in mind to satisfy the increasing demand for customisation,” Cotiga stated. He noted that these new models give customers more options to meet their specific and evolving security needs.
The expanded line of HID Signo Readers also includes innovative features aimed at enhancing security for organisations. These readers support a broad range of credential technologies, from HID Mobile Access using native Bluetooth and NFC, to Apple’s Enhanced Contactless Polling (ECP) for credentials in Apple Wallet. They also support mobile credentials in Google Wallet, making them highly versatile across platforms.
Performance has been a key focus in the new models, with secure storage and a surface detection feature that allows the reader to recalibrate and optimise its read range automatically. This ensures enhanced performance in a variety of settings.
The readers are also future-ready, offering out-of-the-box support for the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), which enables secure, bidirectional communication. Each reader is designed for remote management, eliminating the need for manual updates or physical interaction, commonly referred to as “sneakernet.” These features collectively help organizations maintain high security standards while staying connected to future technologies and advancements in access control.
This expansion of the Signo line underscores HID’s commitment to delivering versatile and customizable solutions for a wide range of industries, environments, and security needs.
