Hochiki Europe’s intelligent fire detection technology has been deployed at a new 17,000 square metre logistics facility near Galanta, Slovakia, marking a significant investment in advanced life safety systems for the site. The installation forms part of a comprehensive fire safety strategy led by Slovakian fire protection specialist, Pro Metheus Slovakia.
The warehouse, operated by KL Logistic, presents a demanding environment for fire safety planning due to its scale, operational intensity, and high-density storage. With racking structures reaching 18 metres in height and a broad mix of stored goods, the facility required a solution capable of delivering rapid detection and seamless integration with active protection systems.
Pro Metheus Slovakia was appointed to design and implement the fire detection infrastructure, opting to centre the system around Hochiki Europe’s ESP (Enhanced System Protocol) range. The solution includes a large deployment of Hochiki ESP optical smoke detectors, positioned to provide early warning across the full span of the building.
To further strengthen protection—especially within the densely packed racking areas—Hochiki’s FIRElink aspirating smoke detection technology was added to the system. This allows for continuous air sampling and enhanced sensitivity, critical for detecting fires in hard-to-access zones before visible smoke emerges.
Control and communication across the system are managed using Hochiki’s ESP protocol. Hochiki HFP control panels have been installed to act as the central command units, linking with a network of input and output modules. These modules interface directly with the site’s sprinkler infrastructure, ensuring that any detection event triggers a synchronised response, from alert to suppression.
The system also incorporates a voice evacuation component, designed to accelerate and coordinate the safe exit of personnel in an emergency. The combination of intelligent detection and audible evacuation support ensures the site meets modern fire safety standards while reducing the likelihood of confusion or delay during critical moments.
