Johnson Controls has extended its PowerManage service management platform and ConnectAlarm mobile app to support its latest generation of IQ Panels. This development offers a streamlined, all-in-one solution for intrusion detection that combines hardware, software, service and support—while giving users more control over data, installation and system management.
Available now across EMEA markets, the fourth-generation IQ Panel family from Johnson Controls brings a new level of smart security integration. Designed for both residential and small business environments, the IQ Panel 4 line provides users with advanced security capabilities and intuitive smart home features. From Bluetooth-enabled disarming to remote access via a mobile app, the system is built with both convenience and privacy in mind.
A standout benefit of the integration is PowerManage’s flexibility in data handling. The platform can be deployed on-premises, meaning customer data remains stored locally and is not exposed to third-party cloud services. For businesses and installers with concerns over cybersecurity and compliance, this approach offers a tangible advantage. Whether installed on local infrastructure or in the cloud, PowerManage supports standard server hardware and established web technologies underpinned by robust cybersecurity protocols.
IQ Panels are known for their ease of use and rapid deployment. With the SmartMount system, devices can be fixed to a wall, table stand or IQ base without complication. Johnson Controls has also included AlarmInstall, a mobile application that significantly simplifies installation and configuration. Rather than programming systems via keypads, installers can use a smartphone or tablet to complete setup, run diagnostics, enrol devices and conduct tests—making on-site work faster and more reliable.
The IQ Panel 4, the flagship of the range, is a comprehensive smart security system. It features an 8MP camera with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and Flex Tilt, three echo-cancelling microphones, two-way voice communication, a built-in glass break detector, motion sensing and QuadSound audio capabilities. It blends traditional intrusion protection with smart home integration, offering both performance and aesthetics.
For those seeking a balance between functionality and cost, the IQ4 Hub delivers a well-rounded alternative. It retains key capabilities, including touchscreen control, device automation, music streaming and personalisation features such as a photo frame screensaver. Meanwhile, the IQ4 NS provides a minimalist, screen-free option without sacrificing core security features. Its compact, sleek design is ideal for users prioritising affordability and simplicity, while still benefiting from PowerManage’s infrastructure and tools.
All IQ panels support Bluetooth disarming. This hands-free function detects the presence of an authorised mobile device as the user approaches and automatically disarms the system—eliminating the need to manually enter a code. Access can also be securely extended to family members or trusted individuals, providing flexible home entry while maintaining system integrity.
Remote control is facilitated via ConnectAlarm, a mobile application that enables users to interact with their alarm systems in real time. Through ConnectAlarm, users can arm or disarm their systems, receive alarm and event notifications, view event logs, perform visual verification, and even authorise access using biometric authentication. Geofencing capabilities add further automation by triggering actions based on the user’s location.
Maciej Polak, Senior Product Manager for EMEA at Johnson Controls, described the integration as a significant enhancement to their offering. “The new compatibility between the PowerManage service management platform and fourth-generation IQ alarm panels gives our customers valuable capabilities to efficiently install, monitor, manage and control security systems,” he said. “With the combined solution, companies can have advanced control over the storage and access of customer data, technicians can perform fast, effortless installations, and home and business owners can conveniently manage their security remotely or on-premises.”
This integration comes at a time when local data control and installation simplicity are increasingly important to both service providers and users. With expanding regulatory frameworks around data privacy and growing demand for user-friendly security systems, Johnson Controls’ unified solution stands out by directly addressing both concerns.
