Olarm MAX: Smart Control for Legacy Security Systems

by Geny Caloisi
OPTEX, a global leader in security sensing technology, has launched the Olarm MAX—a smart communicator that modernises both new and existing security systems. Paired with the Olarm app, this innovation allows users to monitor and manage their security setups from a smartphone, offering seamless control without the need for complex installations or system overhauls.

The Olarm MAX is a Graded Dual-Path (DP) communicator that integrates easily with existing alarm panels. As the Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) is phased out, many organizations face the challenge of switching to digital communication systems. Olarm MAX provides a simple upgrade solution, making older systems smart, without requiring costly rewiring or replacement.

Ben Linklater, Commercial Director at OPTEX EMEA, sees Olarm MAX as a timely game-changer. “With PSTN being retired, this communicator satisfies a clear need and breathes new life into legacy systems, allowing control from the palm of your hand,” he says.

The Olarm MAX’s design simplifies installation, with remote firmware updates and diagnostic LEDs making maintenance easy. Equipped with multiple communication options—LoRaWAN, WiFi, and dual-sim—the device ensures reliable connectivity. It also offers robust security features, such as tamper protection and critical failure notifications.

By offering a turnkey solution, Olarm MAX removes the headaches of upgrading, enabling organisations to manage security systems efficiently and securely with just a smartphone. Available on major app platforms, it is set to become an essential tool in the digital transformation of security infrastructure.
