Paxton has officially achieved carbon neutral status in the UK, France, Germany, and South Africa. This milestone follows Paxton’s first carbon footprint assessment, which recorded 2,541 tCO₂e emissions in 2022, equivalent to approximately 1,550 economy return flights from Heathrow to New York.
The Security technology manufacturer has implemented a focused reduction plan, including a shift from air to sea freight for product components, reducing its carbon emissions by addressing the source of 57% of its total emissions. Additionally, the company now powers all UK facilities with 100% renewable energy and has installed solar panels at its new Paxton Electronics Centre.
To further offset its carbon impact, Paxton has invested in three global projects: a safe water initiative in Zambia and solar and wind farms in Thailand and India. The company’s commitment to sustainability is also reflected in its goal to convert 100% of its company vehicles to electric or hybrid models and its sponsorship of the Freedom Flight initiative, which aims to develop the first zero-carbon passenger flight from London to New York.
Paxton’s CEO, Adam Stroud, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility, noting that this is the first step towards becoming a net-zero company, with plans to achieve this goal well before the 2050 target. The journey is being spearheaded by Paxton’s Green Team, a group of employees trained in carbon literacy, and aligns with the release of the company’s Environmental Policy earlier this year.
