by Geny Caloisi

The CNI Security Group has announced its next major conference, Protecting CNI Scotland – The Importance of Cyber-Secure Solutions in Critical National Infrastructure. The event will take place at the Dakota Eurocentral in Motherwell, in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, on Wednesday 19 November, from 9:30am to 4:00pm.

Building on the success of the Group’s established series of high-security solution events, Protecting CNI Scotland is aimed at end users, consultants and system designers working within the critical national infrastructure (CNI) sector. The agenda will explore how cyber-secure solutions can strengthen operational resilience across essential services and facilities.

The one-day programme combines technical presentations and panel discussions, offering insight from cybersecurity specialists and end users who will share their practical experiences. Delegates will also have the opportunity to engage with leading manufacturers showcasing the latest technologies designed for deployment across high-security sites, including utilities, energy, prisons, nuclear facilities and airports. Exhibitors include barox Kommunikation, Hirsch UK, Nedap Security, ISM Ltd, Commend, Overview, and Lochrin Bain.

A highlight of the morning session will be the keynote presentation from Mike Gillespie, FCIIS MSyl CIRM, of Advent IM. Gillespie is a recognised authority on cyber security and governance, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security, and Senior Vice President for Europe at CSCIS. He will discuss the intersection between cyber and physical security and examine the evolving threat landscape facing CNI operators.

The afternoon will feature a panel discussion titled What Lessons Have We Learnt from Experience? What Does the Future Hold? How Can We Be More CNI Resilient? The session will be chaired by Malcolm Warr OBE, Chair of CNI Scotland, who brings over two decades of experience in national security policy and implementation. He has chaired numerous defence, cyber and physical security conferences at an international level. Additional speakers and panellists will be announced closer to the date.

Sara Fisher, Chairperson of the CNI Security Group, commented: “We are thrilled to be hosting our first event in Scotland, and it promises to be one of our most engaging yet. We have assembled an exceptional line-up of presenters and panellists, bringing together global cybersecurity expertise and real-world perspectives from those operating in the CNI space. I’m also grateful to the many partners and contributors who make this event possible. Delegates can expect an insightful and memorable day.”

Attendance at Protecting CNI Scotland is free of charge, and lunch will be provided for all delegates. The day will conclude with post-event networking drinks.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration and the full agenda are available via Eventbrite: Protecting CNI Scotland – The Importance of Cyber-Secure Solutions in Critical National Infrastructure.
