Signify selects Verkada to modernise security and strengthen operational intelligence

by Geny Caloisi

Signify has taken a decisive step in reshaping the way it manages physical security across its global estate. The lighting manufacturer has adopted Verkada’s unified cloud platform to bring consistency, visibility, and control to 30 manufacturing, distribution, and R&D locations in seven countries.

The move follows a period of rapid international growth that left the company operating a patchwork of legacy systems. Each site ran its own mix of platforms and procedures, making oversight difficult and prolonging investigations that could take weeks to close. By shifting to a single, integrated system combining video security, access control, alarms, and analytics, Signify reports a 50 per cent reduction in operational costs and a 30 per cent drop in security incidents. Investigation times have also been cut from several weeks to roughly one week.

Kfir Atias, Senior Director and Head of Global Security Operations at Signify, describes the shift as transformative. As he puts it, Signify has seen a five-fold increase in investigation speed while reducing the need for on-site patrols. He adds that Verkada’s technology has supported immediate improvements and created the foundation for further innovation.

The journey began with a pilot at a major manufacturing site in Mexico employing more than 3,000 people. The impact was quickly evident, including a 29 percent reduction in guard requirements and far more consistent investigative processes. These results paved the way for a broader global rollout.

Signify now manages its estate from a central Security Operations Centre that leverages Verkada’s real-time alerts, remote monitoring, and standardised practices. The shift has helped reduce silos between sites and strengthened the company’s overall approach to risk management. Atias notes that a single guard can now monitor multiple areas effectively and respond quickly to critical events.

The company has also taken advantage of Verkada’s Command Connector to bring existing cameras into the same cloud environment. Atias highlights the benefit of using previously installed hardware while gaining access to Verkada’s analytics and management tools.

Looking ahead, Signify plans to extend its use of the platform to automate truck traffic monitoring, integrate alarms and access control more closely, and work towards a fully unified global SOC.
