Videx Security has released the 2870, a new interface device designed to enhance its 2-wire video systems, including the 2300 and 2200 series. The module aims to provide greater flexibility and functionality in both retrofit and new installations.

Remote Access and Compatibility with Multi-Unit Systems
The 2870 enables users to receive intercom calls via mobile or landline, either alongside or instead of a standard Videx telephone handset. This allows users to communicate with visitors and grant access even when off-site. The unit is compatible with concierge systems. It can support up to 180 apartments on the 2200 system and up to 99 on the 2300 system, making it suitable for multi-residence buildings with single or multiple entrances.
With the growing need for remote accessibility and user-friendly control, the 2870 enhances existing intercom infrastructure without major installation changes. Only a 12V DC power supply, SIM card, and antenna are required.
Expanded Access Control and Alarm Features
In addition to its intercom capabilities, the 2870 includes an integrated access control system. It supports up to 2000 dial-to-open users and 32 temporary dial-to-open users, plus proximity access for up to 2000 users. The module connects via RS485 to up to eight readers, relays, or keypads and offers flexible management via cloud, software, or app platforms.
The device also enables alarm notifications from apartments, triggering relays or sending SMS messages, and provides event logging for audit trails. Additional functions include holiday settings, programmable access codes, and support for temporary or emergency access protocols.
