IDIS PoE Extender Cameras Streamline Surveillance Expansion

by Geny Caloisi
IDIS, South Korea’s largest video surveillance technology manufacturer, has launched its latest innovation in high-definition video solutions—the 5MP IR PoE Extender Cameras. Designed to simplify system expansion and enhance surveillance coverage, this new range offers systems integrators a fast and cost-effective solution for wide-area monitoring, making it particularly appealing for both residential and commercial applications.

By utilising existing cabling, the IDIS PoE Extender Cameras eliminate the need for additional wiring from network video recorders (NVRs) or switches. This reduces installation complexity, saves time, and ensures minimal disruption during system upgrades. For end-users, this translates to a more economical and efficient way to address blind spots or add targeted surveillance in critical areas.

Cutting-Edge Features for Diverse Applications

The cameras are equipped with an advanced 5MP sensor, delivering clear and detailed images with a range of up to 20 metres, even in challenging lighting conditions. Using H.265 compression combined with IDIS Intelligent Codec technology, the devices optimise bandwidth and storage without compromising on real-time monitoring and recording quality.

The range includes IR 4.3mm and 2.8mm dome cameras (DC-D4517RXP) and bullet cameras (DC-T4517WRXP), all of which are NDAA-compliant. The IP66-rated models are built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, offering protection against dust, water, and extreme temperatures. Additionally, IK10-rated vandal-resistant options are available for high-risk environments such as car parks, public spaces, industrial facilities, hospitals, and correctional centres. These robust models are ideal for deployments requiring long cable runs or where the cameras might be exposed to physical impact.

Flexible and Budget-Friendly Security Enhancements

“For organisations looking to extend the lifecycle of their existing surveillance systems while maintaining business continuity, our new PoE Extender Cameras provide an economical and efficient solution,” said Harry Kim, Europe Sales Director at IDIS. “They enable users to expand their coverage and target specific areas of interest without the need for extensive system overhauls. The quick installation process ensures minimal downtime, helping businesses optimise their security operations to meet evolving safety challenges.”

These cameras’ plug-and-play functionality, combined with their ability to transmit power and data over a single cable, makes them particularly appealing for integrators and end-users seeking to avoid the expense and disruption of complex wiring projects.

IDIS’s commitment to quality and compliance is reflected in the new range’s adherence to IEE 802.3at (Class 4) standards, ensuring reliable performance in a variety of settings. This focus on reliability and cost-efficiency positions IDIS as a trusted partner for organisations aiming to upgrade or expand their security systems without exceeding their budgets.
