Gunnebo Grows Nordic Footprint with Danish Deal

by Geny Caloisi

Gunnebo Entrance Control has taken a strategic step to expand its footprint in Northern Europe by acquiring Special Montering, a Danish access control installation and maintenance specialist with operations in Aarhus and Copenhagen.

Established in 2009, Special Montering has built a reputation for delivering high-quality solutions in locks, door automation, and access management across commercial, public, and industrial sectors. The move bolsters Gunnebo’s local service capabilities and reinforces its commitment to supporting customers with both global technology and regional expertise.

“This is a positive development for both our team and our customers,” said Thomas Withen, owner of Special Montering. “We’ve always focused on quality installation and reliable support. Becoming part of Gunnebo allows us to build on that foundation, while accessing a broader network of knowledge and technology to support more entrance control projects across Denmark.”

Gunnebo Entrance Control, known for its portfolio of speed gates, turnstiles, and perimeter control systems, sees the acquisition as a key part of its growth strategy in the region. The company has confirmed that Special Montering will continue operating under its current structure, with a smooth integration plan and continuity for existing customers.

Blanca Sebastia, EVP Commercial Excellence & GM Europe at Gunnebo Entrance Control, commented:
“Special Montering has earned trust through technical excellence and dedicated service. By combining that local strength with Gunnebo’s innovation and global reach, we’re creating a more agile and responsive offer for customers in Denmark. This acquisition reflects our ongoing investment in strategic growth across Northern Europe.”

The integration promises enhanced support for both ongoing and future projects, with improved responsiveness and access to a wider product range. The teams will work together to meet increasing demand for advanced entrance control solutions across the country.

Howard Lang, President of Gunnebo Entrance Control, added:
“Denmark is a key market for us, with security and operational efficiency driving the need for modern entrance control. Special Montering brings deep local knowledge, a skilled workforce, and a well-established customer base. Together, we’re better positioned to deliver world-class products with the benefit of local service excellence.”

Gunnebo says the acquisition underlines its long-term commitment to the Danish market, with continued investment in regional capacity and customer support.
