The Thames Valley Police CCTV Partnership has been named Security Project of the Year at the Fire & Security Matters Awards 2025 — recognising a collaborative initiative that’s redefining how public space surveillance is delivered across the region.
Led by Thames Valley Police and supported by Genetec, CDS Systems and Hanwha Vision, the project has overhauled CCTV infrastructure across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. By shifting monitoring into dedicated police control rooms, the partnership has improved operational efficiency while delivering significant cost savings for local authorities — helping secure the long-term future of public space CCTV.
“This award is a testament to the power of partnership and innovation,” said Ben Durrant, Account Executive at Genetec. “Thames Valley Police’s approach to modernising public space CCTV shows how a unified platform can enable smarter, more responsive policing.”
The partnership has already had a measurable impact on community safety — supporting crime prevention, improving incident response and strengthening prosecution outcomes.
“CCTV is an important part of community safety,” said Matthew Barber, Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley. “It helps deter crime and antisocial behaviour, identify offenders and support prosecutions. Continued investment in high-quality, sustainable provision will benefit policing and local communities well into the future.”
With plans underway to integrate mobile surveillance capabilities and bring more partners into the fold, the Thames Valley CCTV Partnership is set to evolve further — continuing to raise the bar for public safety innovation in the UK.
