Retailers and banks are facing a familiar challenge: how to protect staff in high-interaction areas where traditional surveillance can’t always reach. In response, March Networks has announced the integration of its Command video management system with the PERCEPT Body Camera from Canadian video technology company IONODES—adding wearable surveillance to its open-platform ecosystem.
Unveiled at NRF PROTECT 2025 in Texas, the integration is aimed squarely at environments where staff safety, incident capture and mobile flexibility are critical, such as self-checkouts, customer service counters, and teller desks.
March Networks’ Product Manager Todd Robinson described the move as part of a broader strategy to support mobile and situational awareness use cases in fast-paced sectors. “As video surveillance moves beyond fixed setups, this collaboration helps us deliver flexible, intelligent solutions for today’s retail and financial services environments,” he said.
The PERCEPT Body Camera is a compact, rugged device designed for all-day use, offering wireless streaming, 180-degree field of view, and full compatibility with the March Networks Command platform. That means security teams in retail or finance settings can now live-stream footage, access recorded events in real time, and synchronise body-worn footage with fixed cameras—all within the same system.
In retail, the integration allows security teams and managers to deploy wearable cameras in areas where traditional surveillance may be obstructed or limited. Floor staff at self-checkouts or customer returns stations can wear the device to deter aggressive behaviour, capture interactions for training or evidence, and request support remotely. It also offers real-time visibility in blind spots and dynamic zones—such as backrooms, loading bays, or pop-up sales areas.
For the banking sector, the use case is equally compelling. As high-street branches adopt open-plan layouts with fewer physical barriers, wearable cameras provide a close-range security solution that blends with the customer service model. Staff can record interactions at teller desks or in consultation areas, with footage automatically archived and searchable through the Command system for later review.
“This certified, end-to-end integration ensures seamless compatibility and unlocks greater value for our shared customers,” said Philippe Beauchamps, Lead Product Manager at IONODES. “It allows us to better serve the financial and retail sectors with mobile, intelligent video tools that can adapt to changing operational needs.”
The integration is part of March Networks’ continued focus on scalable, AI-ready surveillance that extends beyond static camera installations. With more than 25 years of experience and a customer base that includes major retail chains and financial institutions across the UK and Europe, the company is positioning this wearable solution as a way to boost personal safety and strengthen incident response—without requiring a full system overhaul.
For UK security integrators, the key message is interoperability. The PERCEPT camera works within the existing March Networks infrastructure, enabling organisations to enhance coverage where it’s needed most—on the move, at the point of contact, and in places where cameras on ceilings simply don’t see enough.
