
HID’s latest State of Security and Identity Report highlights a shift in security strategies, with organisations increasingly adopting mobile credentials, biometrics, and artificial intelligence. The 2025 report, based on insights from 1,800 industry professionals, reflects a growing emphasis on software-driven security solutions and integrated platforms.
Ramesh Songukrishnasamy, Senior Vice President of Engineering at HID, commented, “The move towards software-based, unified security solutions is accelerating. With 73% of security leaders prioritising these advancements, the industry is evolving beyond traditional, isolated systems.”
Growing Demand for Integrated Security Solutions
The report reveals that 61% of security leaders see mobile credentials as a key trend, with nearly two-thirds already implementing or planning deployment. Similarly, biometrics adoption is expanding, with 35% of respondents using technologies such as fingerprint, iris, and facial recognition, and a further 13% planning to adopt them.
Organisations are also seeking to unify security management, with 67% transitioning to software-driven solutions. Open platforms facilitating seamless integration are gaining traction, as interoperability becomes increasingly important across security functions.
AI and Sustainability in Security Planning
Artificial intelligence is playing an expanding role in security operations, particularly in access control, identity management, and video surveillance. The report highlights efficiency gains, with 50% of respondents citing improved security processes and 47% noting enhanced real-time data analysis.
Sustainability remains a factor in decision-making, with 75% of security leaders considering it when selecting solutions. However, security performance and cost-effectiveness remain the top priorities for 80% of industry professionals.
