Theia Expands IQ Lens System with 4K Multi-Spectral Lens

by Geny Caloisi

Theia Technologies has expanded its IQ Lens System series by introducing the TL410P-IQ R6 CS mount and ML410P-IQ R6 C mount lenses. The new models will be available from 7 April 2025.

The IQ Lens System integrates a motorised 4K resolution, multi-spectral lens with a motor control board, calibration data, and software featuring a graphical user interface (GUI). The modular design supports varied applications requiring remote lens control.

The 4-10mm varifocal lenses achieve 300 line pairs per millimetre (lp/mm) resolution in both visible and near-infrared (NIR) spectrums. They feature motorised zoom and focus, with optional NIR filters and motor stop sensors. Remote control capabilities support dynamic environments such as factory automation, robotics, mobile platforms, and surveillance.

The system includes a Python-based software development kit (SDK) and a GUI that converts engineering parameters into motor control commands. When paired with the Motor Control Board via USB, the software aids in system calibration, adjusting focus-zoom curves, distortion correction, and illumination balance. The motor control board also supports USB, UART, and I2C communication protocols, providing integration options for different platforms.

The calibration data enhances AI-driven applications, including automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) and optical character recognition (OCR), by optimising image quality and system configuration.

Software applications, including a royalty-free licence, are available with the IQ Lens and MCR IQ Motor Control Board purchase.
