Theia Technologies has unveiled its IQ Lens System, a comprehensive solution designed to streamline and enhance imaging system development. This innovative system integrates a motorised lens, a motor control board, pre-calibrated data, and user-friendly software with a graphical user interface (GUI). Together, these components form a modular and highly configurable system, addressing many of the challenges traditionally associated with imaging system integration.
Historically, users of such systems needed to develop their own motor control software. The introduction of Theia’s IQ Lens System, complete with its own software application and intuitive GUI, significantly reduces these development hurdles. By providing an out-of-the-box solution, Theia enables users to accelerate their time to market while also minimising costs.
A key feature of the IQ Lens System is its pre-calibrated data, which offers the necessary intelligence for optimal image quality and simplifies the setup process for imaging systems. The system’s compact and lightweight varifocal lens, combined with the motor control board, allows for remote operation in environments that are difficult to access or where mobility is essential. These features make the IQ Lens™ System an attractive option for integrators looking for convenient and cost-effective solutions.
The IQ Lens System exemplifies efficiency and adaptability, offering a smart solution for various imaging applications. The system is not only fast and flexible but also provides an intelligent approach to imaging system integration, underscoring its cost-effectiveness.
Available Calibration Data
One of the standout features of the IQ Lens™ System is its calibration data, which is provided in a JSON format data file. This data includes various calibration curves that are closely monitored across different lens lots to ensure consistent accuracy. When customers purchase an IQ Lens™, they receive the most recent average data file, which is readily available for online download.
Back Focal Length (BFL) Calibration Procedure
The system also addresses the potential discrepancies between a lens’s best focus position and its calibrated focus position, which can occur due to tolerances in the camera sensor and mount positions. To correct these discrepancies, Theia Technologies recommends performing a Back Focal Length (BFL) calibration. This procedure, detailed in Theia’s application note AN004, involves visually setting the lens focus position and comparing it to the calibrated focus motor step from the data file at various focal lengths. Depending on the specific application, a fine focus adjustment may be necessary to achieve optimal focus.
Theia Technologies’ IQ Lens System represents a significant advancement in the field of imaging technology, providing a sophisticated yet user-friendly solution that reduces development time and costs while enhancing image quality and system integration.
