Unseenlabs is taking its space-based RF intelligence into the mainstream of global maritime analysis through a new collaboration with S&P Global. Under the agreement, Unseenlabs will supply dedicated RF data to strengthen maritime surveillance within S&P Global’s intelligence and risk platforms.
Unlike traditional AIS-based tracking, RF detection can identify and locate vessels even when transponders are switched off. For commercial shipping, insurance, ports and national authorities, that capability fills a critical visibility gap at sea. With around 70 per cent of global trade by value moving by maritime routes, the ability to track real activity rather than reported positions carries clear implications for risk, compliance and operational planning.
S&P Global’s adoption of this data signals a shift in how maritime intelligence is being built, with RF now treated as a trusted decision-making tool rather than an emerging technology. Unseenlabs’ CEO and co-founder Clément Galic said the agreement reflects growing confidence in RF data as a reliable source for global analysis.
Looking ahead, Unseenlabs is preparing to launch a second-generation satellite constellation in 2026. This will extend its surveillance capability beyond maritime into land and space domains, supporting defence, environmental monitoring and wider security applications.
