2N, the global leader in IP access control systems, has expanded its My2N app to Apple Watch, giving users a new level of convenience and freedom when unlocking doors. The update extends 2N’s focus on seamless user experience by making access faster and more flexible, whether in residential or office environments.
“Imagine going for a jog or a quick coffee run without having to carry your phone. With the My2N app on your Apple Watch, you can leave your phone behind and still unlock doors effortlessly,” says Tomáš Vystavěl, Chief Product Officer at 2N.
One of the standout features of the app is its use of watch “complications” – interactive widgets on the Apple Watch interface. With a single tap, users can open the nearest door instantly, without needing to launch the app. For added flexibility, a second complication allows the app to be opened and a different door selected if required. This makes the system practical for multi-tenant buildings, offices, or homes with multiple entry points.
The integration is designed to be smooth and intuitive. Once installed on a mobile phone, the My2N app is automatically downloaded to the Apple Watch at no additional cost. Authorisation rights synchronise instantly with the paired phone, so users always have the latest permissions without any manual updates. The app operates via Bluetooth-only connectivity, ensuring a secure and reliable unlocking experience that aligns with 2N’s reputation for quality and dependability.
Currently, the My2N Apple Watch app supports WatchOS 11 and above, with door unlocking as its primary function. Development is already underway to expand functionality further, including the ability to answer calls directly from the Apple Watch. Support for other smartwatch platforms is also being considered based on customer demand.
With the launch of My2N for Apple Watch, 2N is continuing to push the boundaries of user-centred design, bringing access control directly to the wrist and making daily interactions with buildings simpler than ever.
