Abloy UK has confirmed the integration of its SMARTair wireless access control system with the FLEXIPASS platform, creating a new solution for mobile-enabled, contactless access. The development is aimed at sectors such as hospitality, education and commercial offices, where convenience and operational efficiency are critical.
SMARTair is already recognised for its flexible installation process, avoiding the disruption of hard wiring by using wireless technology to provide real-time security management. The integration with FLEXIPASS builds on this by enabling secure digital keys to be issued directly to users’ smartphones via SMS or email. Unlike conventional systems that require a native app, this solution delivers instant access without the need for registration or downloads.
The combined system allows users to unlock SMARTair-secured doors by simply using their mobile access options, while administrators can issue, update or revoke credentials remotely through a centralised platform. This reduces the reliance on physical key handovers, minimises front-desk workload and streamlines administration processes.
FLEXIPASS brings additional functionality to SMARTair by supporting Webkeys for immediate access, automated authorisations that run from check-in to check-out, and integration options through an open API. This makes it possible to embed door-opening functions within hotel guest communication channels such as WhatsApp or a property’s web application, while also allowing seamless connectivity with property management systems or guest communication providers.
According to Abloy UK, the solution is scalable and suitable for a broad range of applications, from hotels and co-living spaces to education facilities, offices and residential developments. It extends beyond doors to secure lockers, gates and cabinets, offering organisations a versatile platform to modernise their access control infrastructure.
