Affordable Security Solutions for Fast-Food Chains

by Geny Caloisi
Ajax’s latest project is integrating a comprehensive security system across all Burger King branches in Norway. Founded in 1954 in Miami, Florida, Burger King has grown into one of the world’s largest fast-food chains with thousands of locations in over 100 countries. Known for its quality ingredients, innovative menu items, and iconic marketing campaigns, Burger King continuously seeks to enhance its operations and customer experience.

To further its commitment to a secure dining environment, Burger King has implemented robust security measures throughout its restaurants. In Norway, the fast-food chain has chosen to integrate advanced security systems and video surveillance to protect its property from theft, vandalism, and unauthorised access, ensuring the safety and comfort of both staff and customers.

The solution, developed by AlarmLink Oslo AS, features Ajax devices known for their high security standards. Each Burger King restaurant in Norway was equipped with the Hub 2 Plus Jeweller control panel, which supports numerous security devices and user groups. This model is essential for scaling as it accommodates expanding security needs without requiring significant infrastructure changes. The hub’s four communication channels and LTE support ensure connectivity to Ajax Cloud and the central monitoring station under any conditions by connecting to two separate Internet providers via Ethernet and Wi-Fi, while maintaining two cellular services as backups.

Motion and opening detectors monitor all possible entries into the buildings, safeguarding against intrusion and burglary. The Ajax system’s user-friendly design allows restaurant executives to manage security directly from their smartphones through the app, receiving immediate notifications if restricted areas are accessed. The KeyPad Jeweller installed at service premises entrances ensures authorised access is monitored and controlled effectively.

Burger King staff have seamlessly integrated the Ajax devices into their daily routines. Managers arm the system upon leaving and disarm it upon arrival, efficiently controlling access to restricted areas and receiving real-time notifications of any security breaches. This integration not only ensures smooth operations but also enhances security and monitoring at all times.

The Ajax security system integrates effortlessly with Burger King’s existing video surveillance, allowing third-party cameras to be added to the Ajax app without the need for costly new installations. This straightforward integration enhances security measures and saves the company money. Furthermore, Ajax devices are visually appealing and blend seamlessly into any environment, contributing to a welcoming and safe dining experience for customers.

In Norway, where installing security devices can be costly due to taxes and related expenses, Ajax has significantly reduced these costs by half. The devices are ready to use out of the box, easy to install, and can be added to the system by simply scanning a QR code.

Ajax’s solutions are particularly beneficial for chain companies like Burger King, as they streamline the application of security features across multiple locations. The system’s ease of use is crucial for businesses with high employee turnover rates, ensuring staff can quickly learn to manage the security system effectively.
