Axis Communications, a leading name in network video technology, has launched two advanced cameras designed specifically for Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). Engineered for traffic monitoring and smart city projects, these cameras deliver sharp license plate captures at high speeds, enhancing road safety and supporting law enforcement efforts.
The AXIS Q1800-LE License Plate Camera is preconfigured to capture plates 24/7 at speeds of up to 250 km/h (155 mph). It supports edge or server-based software from leading third-party providers, offering flexibility in choosing the most suitable ANPR analytics.
The AXIS Q1800-LE-3 is a comprehensive, all-in-one solution that comes with AXIS License Plate Verifier preinstalled. It processes and stores data directly on the camera, reducing the need for expensive servers and lowering bandwidth usage. This model can read plates at speeds of up to 200 km/h (124 mph).
Both cameras are effective over distances of up to 100 metres (328 feet) in daylight and 50 metres (164 feet) in complete darkness. With the optional AXIS T90D20 IR-LED Illuminator, night-time range extends to 100 metres (328 feet).
Built for demanding environments, the cameras feature robust designs that withstand harsh weather conditions, including winds of up to 60 m/s (134 mph). They are equipped with a weather shield and electronic image stabilisation for reliable performance. Installation is straightforward, with preconfigured image algorithms focusing solely on plate recognition.
