Comelit-PAC Delivers Bespoke Door Entry Upgrade at Historic Bridgwater Arts Centre

Comelit-PAC has worked with Kings Group SW to deliver a tailored video door entry upgrade for Bridgwater Arts Centre, a Grade I listed venue with a long-standing cultural role in the town.

The building, owned and operated by Bridgwater Town Council, dates back to 1723 and has been home to the Arts Centre since 1946. As part of a wider refurbishment programme, the Council sought a door entry solution that would strengthen access control without compromising the character of the site.

Scott Mason, Director of Amenities at the Council, said that any alteration to the building requires careful planning. He explained that the project team was involved from the start to ensure the new system blended with the building’s fabric while introducing reliable video-led access for staff and visitors.

Kings Group SW recommended Comelit-PAC’s Ultra Door Entry system. The modular, high-definition video intercom platform enables staff to view and manage entry points in real time, supporting day-to-day operations and enhancing overall security.

According to Adam Pitman, who oversees security and life safety systems at Kings Group SW, the installation needed to be handled with sensitivity. He noted that discreet cable routing, thoughtful positioning and compliance with modern security requirements were all essential considerations. The choice of a modular system meant the team could achieve this with minimal disruption and retain the flexibility to adapt the solution over time.

The Ultra platform’s mix of 2-Wire and ViP door stations allows audio, video and button modules to be combined in a compact format, making it easier to match the system to the different access points across the building.

Tony Berry, Business Development Manager at Comelit-PAC, said early collaboration across all parties helped shape a system that supports the practical needs of staff, performers and visitors, while respecting the building’s historic setting.
