A new access control solution has been implemented at Warmstry Court, a housing development near Worcester city centre, to address long-standing security concerns. The project was a collaboration between Comelit-PAC and Harrold Jones Services Limited, delivering a tailored system to enhance safety while ensuring residents’ independence.
Warmstry Court, situated adjacent to the River Severn, is a residential complex catering primarily to older adults. It is managed by Sanctuary Housing and includes several general needs properties. While the location offers convenience and picturesque surroundings, it also presented unique security challenges, particularly in controlling access to its car park and residential areas.
To resolve these issues, Sanctuary Housing engaged Harrold Jones Services for their expertise in access control solutions. Following a comprehensive risk assessment, a bespoke system was designed and installed in partnership with Comelit-PAC.
The solution combines Comelit-PAC’s New Housing Central Product with High-Security Anti-Cloning Credentials, providing robust protection against unauthorised access. The system enables site managers to monitor and control access remotely from any PC or smart device, ensuring both convenience and security.
A Secure Future for Residents and Management
Kim Tolnai, Scheme Manager for Sanctuary Housing, highlighted the impact of the upgrade:
“The upgraded access control system has completely transformed how we manage the site. Residents now feel much more secure, and we have full control over who can enter the building and use the car park. The ability to monitor the system remotely has also been embraced by our management team. It gives us peace of mind, knowing we can monitor the site wherever we are.”
The installation included high-frequency vandal-resistant readers positioned at key entry points, including the car park barrier and main entrances. These readers were integrated with Comelit-PAC’s 512 Series Controllers and the Housing Central Gateway, creating a system that is both reliable and intuitive.
Danny Wallis, Director of Harrold Jones Services, praised the collaborative effort, “We worked closely with the team at Warmstry Court from early specification to ensure the access control system met the bespoke security requirements of the site. The Comelit-PAC solution has been instrumental in providing a comprehensive, future-proof system that seamlessly blends with surroundings with no impact on the aesthetics of the site. The result not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the residents and management team.”
Technology with a Personal Touch
The new system addresses a critical issue with its advanced anti-cloning technology, providing residents with 128-bit encrypted OPS tokens. These tokens eliminate the risk of unauthorised cloning, a problem that had previously compromised site security.
Comelit-PAC’s Regional Sales Manager, Lloyd Palmer, played a key role in supporting the installation. He provided on-site assistance during setup and programming while ensuring that the management team at Warmstry Court was thoroughly trained in the system’s use.
Palmer commented, “The installation of the Comelit-PAC access control system has transformed security management at Warmstry Court. Sanctuary Housing now benefits from a robust system that ensures only authorised individuals have access to the building and its facilities. The advanced anti-cloning technology and the ability to manage the system remotely provide the ultimate in convenience, security, and peace of mind for both residents and management.”
With its sleek design and advanced features, the Comelit-PAC system has seamlessly integrated into Warmstry Court’s infrastructure, delivering unparalleled security without compromising aesthetics. This collaboration not only resolved existing challenges but also set a new standard for access control in residential settings.
