Veridos provides contactless access control systems Security Conference

by Geny Caloisi

Veridos is delivering innovative access control technology for the Munich Security Conference, scheduled held at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof from February 16 to 18, 2024. Alongside convenient walk-through portals, the security strategy encompasses the latest iteration of access cards. Additionally, a specially crafted smartphone app is available as an alternative option.

The 60th edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) serves as a gathering point for prominent decision-makers from diverse sectors, converging with scholars, security specialists, and journalists. Esteemed for its role as a vital forum for discussing global political matters encompassing international conflicts, crises, defense, cyber security, digital threats, humanitarian challenges, human rights, and international collaboration.

Consistent with previous years, the MSC entrusts the robust, contemporary eAccess system from Veridos, a collaboration between Bundesdruckerei and Giesecke+Devrient, for participant identification. Central to this system is a walk-through portal, providing conference attendees with contactless access control of the utmost security standard.

The access cards, produced by G+D using eco-friendly materials, are furnished with high-security NXP chips and RFID technology, enabling secure remote reading. A simple passage through the portal ensures automatic verification of registration and access permission. Furthermore, event badges can be authenticated using smartphones equipped with a dedicated Veridos app, presenting security personnel with the attendee’s image for manual validation. The access cards, boasting various cryptographic and biometric security elements, are exclusively readable by authorized devices. Once more, Veridos collaborator NXP Semiconductors is tasked with ensuring the security and communication chips.

“The advanced access control system provided by Veridos and NXP Semiconductors underscores our commitment to merging the highest security benchmarks with cutting-edge technology,” states Marc-Julian Siewert, CEO of Veridos. “We are establishing the appropriate technological infrastructure for the Munich Security Conference, presenting participants with a secure and user-friendly solution.”
