New Task Force for Video Fire Detection launched by Euralarm

by Geny Caloisi

Euralarm Fire Section has created a new Task Force that will focus on video fire detection. This task force was formed after video was identified as an expanding technology for the fire industry. Specifically, the scope is to investigate both products/systems and installation of video fire detection in general, including thermal video fire detection.

In the new Task Force Video Fire Detection (TF VFD), standardisation situation will be identified and mapped on international, national and European levels, including standardisation and guidance developed by test houses.

Parallel to this, the Task Force will identify the activities that are carried out in Europe towards the development of standard and determine if existing standards need improvement and/or additional standards need to be developed for European uses. The result of this will be an Euralarm action plan with suggestions on whether the technology should be brought into European standards.

There is a current call for a chair, which the Technical Manager of the Fire Section will support.
